I'm really busy!

Well folks, the pace has picked up!!! Life in Cambodia has never been busier for me, but I'm loving every minute of it! Okay...maybe not every minute...the week I had a nasty rainy season cold was not so hot, but I made it through it. My mum brought me hot tea and milk and forbade me from going to school. It's nice to be cared for even at 23!

Just after the end of my cold, I and several other volunteers made our way to the south of the country where we celebrated the King's Birthday on a nice little island. We swam, hiked, loafed around on the beach and had a fabulous time! It was a nice getaway after the stress of getting the new school year off and going.

But the new school year has definitely started! My days are full of teaching, lesson planning, and biking back and forth to school. I didn't realize just what a shock to my system the new schedule would be after the lazy summer. It's been nice to get back in the classroom and I'm enjoying getting to know my students again. They all have English names and I get little laughs every time I call on "Samantha" or "Joseph" to read in class. It's been an adventure already.

The cool season has also arrived in Cambodia. I was laughing today (as I rode my bike 40 miles to use the internet) that exactly on the day rainy season ended, it stopped raining. It's been nothing but blue sunny skies since then with a nice cool, steady wind from the north. I have to sleep with a blanket and even wear a light sweater on my way to school in the morning. It's been wonderful compared to the stickiness of hot season and the dreariness of rainy season. All my Cambodian friends are complaining that's cold, and I'm relishing it!

Well, that's all for this month. I had lots of things I planned to write about, but don't have time to do so. Hope things are well back home and everyone is also enjoying the Fall weather!

Oh and an early Happy Thanksgiving!

You are a wonderful girl... I can't ever ride bike for 40 miles.... I used to ride from Siem Reap to your village in 1998 but it took for a whole day. I don't think you bike in that long distance just want to use the internet... !

Sounds like another exciting year is ahead of you. I'm still missing you back here in the states, but I know you couldn't be happier, and that makes me happy. I still miss you though.

I saw your cousin Kaylee yesterday. She was job-shadowing my supervisor. I see Christian every day in band. They have grown a bunch since I saw them at Christmas!

I hope you will get your package soon. I finally asked the post office about it, and they said that once it leaves the country they can't track it. *Sigh*

The trip looks like a lot of fun. Wish I was there. I'm flat broke right now, which is not fun at all.

Love you!
